ENDANGERED SPECIES
Loxodonta africana
FATRO "WILDLIFE" COLLECTION
It is the largest land animal in existence, with tusks which can exceed 3 metres in length. It is hunted relentlessly for its ivory: it is estimated that around 500 tons are exported from Africa every year, representing the slaughter of 25,000 - 50,000 animals. The African elephant population has fallen in the last ten years from 1,300,000 to 750,000 individuals, and is in continual decline.
