Sport is a right of every citizen and, as such, must be accessible to all.

The wheelchair basketball movement arose in Bologna thanks to the efforts of the former CSH (Coordination for Handicapped Sport), which has always been committed to promoting the practice of sport for everybody, organizing courses of wheelchair mini-basketball. The courses conducted form part of a more wide-ranging project, which contemplated the establishment of a number of teams in the region, to make competitive sport possible throughout the region.
The results of this project are the teams formed in Emilia Romagna, which is the first of its type in Italy and has formed the framework for the first experimental championship of mini-basketball organized by the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) in 2004/05. In Italy, the development of wheelchair basketball has had certain positive effects which are also recognized internationally.
We need to collect all possible energy and help around this project so that each sporting discipline can be offered and then practiced by everybody, enabling a significant number of young people to fulfill themselves through a dream which has the shape of a basketball.
