For this reason, the company promotes environmentally conscious industrial development at every stage - from research and development to the production of its pharmaceuticals.
FATRO has developed its own Environmental Management System that ensures compliance with current regulations and guarantees the continuous improvement of its environmental performance. In 2010, the system obtained ISO 14001 Environmental Certification.
Since 1995, FATRO has adhered to the voluntary Responsible Care program, which aims to promote sustainable development through the continuous improvement of performance in the areas of safety, health, and the environment.
This involves a commitment to reducing risks, emissions, waste, and energy consumption, as well as managing products responsibly throughout their entire life cycle.
At its Ozzano Emilia (BO) facility, FATRO has installed a cogeneration plant that significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions (over 1,000 tons of CO2 per year) resulting from its energy needs.

The photovoltaic systems installed at FATRO’s facilities generate an annual saving equivalent to over 100 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
The FATRO Group has launched a program to replace, wherever technically possible, the plastics used in its products and processes with more environmentally friendly materials.
FATRO Group’s commitment to the environment is also reflected in the “Paper Trees” project, which involves using recycled or certified paper for product packaging in order to minimize the impact on forest resources.
FATRO promotes the responsible use of water. To this end, it has installed groundwater level monitoring systems in its wells and implemented cooling water recovery systems, achieving a 30% reduction in water withdrawal from wells.
For years, FATRO has prepared an annual Environmental Report for its production sites in Ozzano dell’Emilia (BO) and Maclodio (BS), gathering the most significant parameters related to the FATRO Group’s impact on the areas surrounding its manufacturing facilities.
