PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
Injectable solution.
TARGET SPECIES
Cattle, sheep, goats, swine and horses.
PROPERTIES
Scopolamine methylbromide is an effective and powerful antispasmodic with peripheral antimuscarinic and anticholinergic action.
It works by antagonizing the effects of acetylcholine mainly at the level of muscarinic receptors.
The spasmolytic effect determines a relaxation of the smooth muscle of gastrointestinal, biliary and genitourinary tracts.
Scopolamine methylbromide does not cross the blood-brain barrier, so does not cause anticholinergic effects on the central nervous system.
After parenteral administration, the maximum plasma concentration is reached in few minutes.
