BSMT - The Bernstein School of Musical Theater

The "CORRADO E BRUNO MARIA ZAINI" FOUNDATION supports the BSMT - The Berstein School of Music" school. Founded in 1993, the BSMT arose as a school of Musical Theatre to prepare artists in singing, acting, and dance according to the Anglo-Saxon model of Triple Threat Performance, that is to say, a Three-dimensional artist. In a few years, the school became a reference point for study and training in Musical Theater repertoire. More particularly, it is currently one of the few national facilities able to provide complete and interdisciplinary training in the field of the performing arts. Together with this avant-garde role in professional training, the BSMT also plays an important part in the artistic and cultural landscape, thanks to the programming and production of Musicals, and international masterpieces, often disregarded by Italian producers as they are not considered commercial. To inform the public of the existence of a completely different musical repertoire, in 2013 the BSMT inaugurated the first festival of Musical Theater in Italy (A Summer Musical Festival) with the double purpose of promoting the cultured musical but more particularly favoring meeting points between students and graduates on the one hand, and professionals and other operators in the world of entertainment on the other.    VISIT THE SITE

A glass of milk for the children of Hanga

"A glass of milk for the children of Hanga” is the name of the solidarity initiative which the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Bologna and SIVTro-VSF I (the Italian Society of Tropical Veterinary Science and Zootechnics for International Cooperation - Veterinarians Without Frontiers, Italy), in partnership with the "CORRADO E BRUNO MARIA ZAINI" FOUNDATION, has started at the livestock farm of the Benedictine Community in the village of Hanga, in southern Tanzania.Although, over time, the project has progressively expanded its range of action, the name summarises the initial objective of the idea, that is to say, to favour an increase in milk production at the animal housings of the abbey in Hanga, to be able to ensure a sufficient supply of this nutritious food for the children of the school and for dispensary patients. In consideration of this purpose, the project concentrated on and specially developed the livestock farm; the project involved, amongst other things, an improvement in the organization and management of the farm, the preparation of suitable dietary plans, the training of animal-housing staff, health controls (particularly TBC and Brucellosis) on the cattle present on the farm, the purchase of new cows with better milk yields than those already present in the herd, renovation of the buildings of the outside paddocks and the milking barns, the sending and installation of a refrigerated tank for storage of the milk after milking and the related purchase of an electrical generator for this, and still more. Dormitory for the children in Hanga (Tanzania)

Hanga is a small village in southern Tanzania, in the region of Ruvuma, two days from Dar es Salaam: this is where the Benedictine Abbey is located ("Ora et labora" is their motto in Latin, “Pray and Labour” in English, “SALA NA KAZI” in Swahili).“Elimu ni mali”, that is to say, “Education is a virtue”. This short but significant phrase in Kiswahili, can be frequently seen on the stones bearing the name of the village school in Tanzania. Consequently, an awareness of the importance of education is very much alive in this country, even though the objective conditions certainly do not make its realization easy. The considerable support of the "CORRADO E BRUNO MARIA ZAINI" FOUNDATION is very much in accordance with this principle. It has entirely financed the construction of a new dormitory for the children who attend the school of Hanga but come from faraway villages. The realization of this complex of buildings is a step forward of fundamental importance, favoring the education process in rural and disadvantaged zones where the lack of adequate infrastructure further penalizes an educational system that is deficient from many points of view. The old structure, too small and inadequate, was no longer able to meet the new needs of pre-primary and primary schools, thus preventing it from fully exploiting the potential of the educational complex, which is actually "avant-garde" in its Tanzanian context. The new dormitory enables children who are not resident of the village of Hanga to attend the school on a continuous basis and to have comfortable accommodation for the entire school period. At the present moment, 160 children are housed in the dormitory, while a further 110 remain (but obviously with more space) in the old dormitory. Educational support

Together with the veterinary/livestock project, the generosity of many friends and benefactors has favored the start of a project within the project. This is an initiative directed at paying the costs for the education of native children or charity boys at the state school in the village; a sort of "remote support".A targeted provision of the funds will ensure that they will be able to complete their entire primary school education. This initiative is of considerable importance because it allows school access to those children who, coming from the poorest families, would be excluded from even basic literacy. The support initiatives for the study are implemented with excellent discretion to protect the children's privacy and to avoid any feeling of unfairness developing between those who are cared for and those who are excluded whilst not in any way living under conditions of well-being, are excluded. One aspect which we noted with great pleasure was the care and rigor employed with the selection criteria for the children who would benefit from the support. Unlike what might be generally thought considering the conditions of great need, the choice of the beneficiaries for our initiative is very judicious and, notwithstanding a certain availability of funds, the number of children identified is limited to the most serious cases and not expanded ad hoc, about the funds collected. This confirms the conscientiousness and professionalism of our interlocutors to those who wish to send money for this clearly defined purpose. Obviously, from what has been said above, part of the funds collected must be set aside to ensure the continuity of support until the end of primary school education. VISIT THE SITE
